The Veil
As I lift the veil and I try to focus eyes
I’m lost in a place I don’t recognize
Man all the walls in here are black
And
devoid of all that shines
I’m desperately searching for all the exit signs
I can’t find excuses or answers
In fact I don’t have
a clue
Would someone please crack the door open
Or just put back my veil and say it isn’t true
Have my demons come back to carry
me away
And hone their talons on sorrow
Will they drop me in water I can’t hope to tread
Will I be drowned tomorrow
At the risk
of sounding weak
I’ve got to tell like it is
I don’t know how long I’ll remember this
I can’t use excuses or answers
In fact I don’t
have a clue
Would someone please crack the door open
Or just put back my veil and say it isn’t true
Have my demons come back to
carry me away
And hone their talons on sorrow
Will they drop me in water I can’t hope to tread
Will I be drowned tomorrow
The beating of my soul
Can’t match the pounding in my head
I just try to smile, buck-up, but I cry instead
Then the screen
comes on everyone I love is gone
And they fade away and the screen goes grey
I can’t use excuses or answers
In fact I don’t even
have a clue
Would someone please crack the door open
Or just put back my veil and say it isn’t true
Will you please put back my veil
and say it isn’t true
As I lift the veil and I try to focus eyes
I’m still in that place I don’t recognize
I can’t use excuses
or answers
In fact I don’t really have a clue
Will someone please crack the door open
Or just put back my veil and say it isn’t true
Will
you please put back my veil and say it isn’t true
I can’t find excuses or answers
In fact I don’t have a clue
Will someone please
crack the door open
Or just put back my veil and say it isn’t true
