Knowledge of Eve

I guess you know the story about this woman and man

Walkin’ through the perfect garden, hand in hand

Livin’ life so easy free from sin and shame

No one to be angry at, no grudge, no blame

The Father clearly stated that the garden has a rue

A certain tree, a certain fruit that’s surely not for you

A serpent lies within the tree, he warned them both that day

And if you eat the fruit, well you know there’ll be Hell to pay

The Garden’s rules they changed that day

We’re always tryin’ to do things our own way

The Tree of Knowledge with its mystery and pain

Careful what you live for, you might get it in the end

While working in the garden, Adam starts to walk it home

He could barely hear her whisper, but Eve was not alone

The serpent’s voice was in her ear and it was plain to see

That Lucifer had given her the knowledge from that tree

Once she got the answers, well she turned and looked his way

Her mouth was full of words, but there was nothing she could say

She held the apple to his mouth and said “just take a bite”

Well he did and they hid and the Garden changed that night

The Garden’s rules they changed that day

We’re always tryin’ to do things our own way

The Tree of Knowledge with its mystery and pain

Careful what you live for, you might get it in the end

Everyone knows just how the story ends

On bended knee in front of Father trying to make amends

History Tells of a punishment that day

I guess it’s just better to do things our Father’s way

The Garden’s rules they changed that day

We’re always tryin’ to do things our own way

The Tree of Knowledge with its mystery and pain

Careful what you live for, you might get it in the end
